Join Quinn Thomas, Associate Professor at Virginia Tech, and Freya Olsson, Postdoctoral Research Associate at Virginia Tech, on October 31, 2023 for their data skills workshop on ecological forecasting.

This workshop will introduce the Ecological Forecasting Initiative Research Coordination Network’s (EFI-RCN) National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON) Forecast Challenge, and provide you with all of the information and materials so that you can start submitting to the Challenge! Challenge materials include easy-to-use software, tools, and templates that have been developed in the R programming language. We will provide an example forecasting workflow in R to follow-along and provide assistance to participants to set up their own forecasting workflow. If time permits, workflow automation will also be introduced.

This workshop is part of the ongoing data skills and science seminar webinar series. The data skills webinar series is geared towards guiding community members in working with NEON data.

  • Registration is open to all.
  • Some webinars will have preqreuisites.
  • All webinars will be recorded and available for viewing after the fact.
  • Format: 1 hour of follow-along coding, followed by 30 minutes of Q&A. Coding language and installations required will be noted on the web page for each event.
